Orange County Mitzvah DJ at the Turnip Rose in Costa Mesa

Hannah Katz had her Bat Mitzvah at the Celebrations Room in Costa Mesa, which is under the Turnip Rose Umbrella, and it was a very magical afternoon. If you haven’t had a chance to check out this location yet please go see it and talk to Chrissy Sherbanee who is the Director of Special Events, and if your short on time watch the video, because I was trying to capture every angle possible. Chrissy and her staff are amazing and the effort they make will create a really smooth event. The Tasty Sounds crew are always on top of it, but these guys take it to the next level, (in a good way). Also on the party was one of our favorite Photographers Ron Levy, who always makes our day much easier. Go check out his website, and yes he’s in Orange County, but all my Los Angeles people should be checking him out, he’s that good. And finally Hannah & the whole Katz gang, what a great family. Hannah is like a young Selena Gomez, very poised throughout the whole day, not a misstep (even in 7 inch heels). Mazel Tov to everyone involved, including one of my new DJ’s, Francis who recently moved here from Hawaii (an amazing battle/Scratch DJ) who got to participate in his very first Mitzvah. Now go watch the VIDEO!!!!

Orange County Mitzvah DJ at Hills Hotel in Laguna Hills

Marissa’s Mitzvah in Laguna Hills

Well It was over a year ago, but we finally put together some highlights of Marissa’s special event!! It was a beautiful day at the Hills Hotel in Laguna CA. We were honored this was our 2nd Collins mitzvah. It was awesome to see so many familiar faces (shout out to the Shoeberg family). DJ Kevin was backing me up spinning the tunes. The Mummy Wrap game is featured in this video. It’s always great to get some of the parents involved. I think they were having more fun with it than the kids! We had an amazing afternoon with the Collins family once again.

A Web Celebs Sweet Video

Sometimes I come across something so creative I just have to step back and breathe. Can you imagine coming home after working your hard job and getting back to work on your video project that is this complicated. Kina Grannis, 26 did just that with this video using 288,000 jelly beans and a concept idea by director Greg Jardin. Production was very intense for each of the 2,460 individual frames, and a crew had to build a jelly bean portrait out of thousands of jelly beans which Grannis would then lay down on a piece of glass mounted over the jelly beans. The topper to this video is that the song is really great, and I will definitely add it to the Tasty Sounds play-lists.

4 Harlem Shake Videos

Yes I know the Harlem Shake craze is weird, (and a huge waste of time if your looking at them on youtube)  and many of you don’t understand it, but anytime I can get all crazy then I’m all the way in. The first one is for my Daughter Kelly’s elementary school Calahan, they had a jog-o-thon that I volunteer for and I talked them into doing it. The second video is for a great family (Hamontree) in Newport who had a 8 year old birthday party. I’m not sure the kids understood what I wanted them to do, but they seem crazy and Jen my dancer and I had fun. The next one is St. Eupharasia Catholic School in Granada Hills, and I was handling another Jog-o-thon. What was great about this one is the principal Mrs. Blair helped start things off, fun school, fun parents, and great teachers. Lastly we handled Maia Yosef’s Bat Mitzvah and of course we had to do the Harlem Shake. It’s a little like where’s Waldo but instead it’s wheres DJ Alvis?

Corporate Holiday Lunch

law firm Sidley & Austin LLP has a holiday luncheon every year, usually at the Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles, and since their offices are right across the street this is a good combo for them. Usually holiday lunches are a more low key event and you tend to focus on the raffles and the networking, but if you plan ahead and (have us) you can still create a great energy. This firm loves the contests and they are very good at coming up with many of the contests we have used in the past, I even remember one year we had a Jenga contest. The holiday committee bought about 30 Jenga games, and put them at each table, and then after making up some ground rules we had a massive Jenga contest, it was pretty fun. How many different ideas do we have here at Tasty Sounds for a holiday party besides dancing, well to many to print here so call us.

If you watch the video below you will see last years event, and you will see a Blues Brothers Tribute, the Managing Partner Speech, Cocktails, awards and what is that … DANCING! Yes even without a dance floor (we had a stage) people can’t stop the impulse of dancing to our music. Oh and yes we found much better use for Hot Chocolate’s “You Sexy Thing” than a Swifter commercial, in fact it’s mashed up with Bruno Mars and it’s extremely TASTY as the background track.
