We had the unique opportunity to entertain for the Kushnir families LA Bar Mitzvah at the 94th Aero Squadron. The 94th Aero Squadron is a very unique location, and if you’ve never seen it, it resembles an old bombed out Chateau from Europe during the WWI era. We lit one of those bombed out looking rooms with red up-lights giving the room a dramatic feel. The guests all ate inside, but we had all of the entertainment, (DJ, Video Screens and Photo Booth) outside.
As you watch the video you can see everyone dancing the Hora around the fire pit. The video shows two examples of games being played. The 2 person tug-o-war is a game we don’t play a lot but boy is it a hit with everyone. At the end of the video, you will see the family testimonial and you will get too see Bruno’s Pharrell inspired hat; I can’t wait till he’s in his 30’s and looks back at that hat :).
It was a pleasure working with everyone, the Kushnir Family and Bruno our Mitzvah star. It was also easy working with Karen & Emily our 94th Staff Banquet Managers. Finally, I want to thank DJ Brian Pierce and our dancer Lori and our super friendly Photo Booth girl Sarah.
We recently handled two Mitzvah’s at the newly renovated Mulholland Tennis Club and both events went great. One was for a cool skater dude named Danny and the other one was for the fun spitfire Sasha. The club itself can be hard to find because it sits near the top of Laurel Canyon on Mulholland Drive, but that’s a plus. It has one of the best views of Los Angeles and the Valley, from its giant glass windows right next to the dance floor. If you’re looking for a location that doesn’t have that tired boring ballroom feel, check out this location and speak to Meagan about all the details. I love the huge dance floor that is right next to the cool sunken bar. This setup keeps your party happening near the dance floor at all times, perfect for any Mulholland Tennis Club Los Angeles DJ.
Danny’s awesome party was filled with the energy that only athletic teenage youths can bring to a rocket-fueled event. My single mom, Allison Stein from Santa Monica, knocked it out of the park with how she handled the whole exhausting day. Here is a tiny slice of that evening.
The Devillier family was so much fun to work with. I loved that they wanted to put the Seattle 90’s grunge sound into much of the evening. Mom & Dad walked into “Black Hole Sun”, and Sasha walked into “American Idiot” by Green Day, such cool choices. In the video, you can see the big windows and overlooking the city and a small glimpse of our game Walla Balla. Enjoy their recap video and follow us on facebook.
Danielle Widerman had her rocking Doctor Who themed Bat Mitzvah with all her friends and our super skilled MC Brian Pierce led the charge for Tasty Sounds. This was his second event for the family. He handled Courtney’s Bat Mitzvah 7 years ago, and this one was just as fun. While the catering staff changed the room over from the service that was held earlier, Newport Beach Bat Mitzvah DJ Brian led some games outside on the field for prizes (Classic Battle Roy-ale Hula Hoop), and when everyone was having cocktails on the patio, a company called the “San Diego TARDIS company (Karen 810-293-7707) came in and set up a British Style Phone Booth, which if you watch the show Dr. Who is called a T.A.R.D.I.S., and a big part of the show, (it’s basically the spaceship). So when it was time for the grand entrance, we led the family in from the doors, but we hid our Newport Bat Mitzvah girl Danielle in the Phone Booth and she popped out when we played the Dr. Who theme song, with a couple of Cosplay Doctors.
We are lucky that we get to handle so many Orange County Bar Mitzvah’s, and get to have special families like the Widerman’s who re-book us for many big family moments. Have fun watching our own personal highlight reel of the day.

Usually when we Video DJ (VJ) we show the videos on our cool Plasma Screens or on our 7×10 foot movie screen or both and it looks amazing, but recently we have been in absolute heaven because we have been able to show our Videos on the movie screen of thePort Theater in Newport Beachand it is AWESOME! We have done 4 events in this beautiful venue in the past 2 months; a Bar Mitzvah for the Maister family, a 50th Birthday for John Tallichet, a 9 year old Birthday party with lots of little girls dancing and St. Margaret’s Winter Formal.
The Winter formal forSt. Margaret’s Episcopal Schoolhad an “Oscar Theme”, complete with a 4 foot tall Ice Oscar. Our Contact Lora Allison really pulled it all together for her school and the students really had a great time. I was super impressed at how organized they were with everything right down to the pick up point with the breathalyzer test for all the students.
If your looking for a different kind of place to have your event give Kristin Coates a call at the Port ((949) 723-6333) and think about adding Video on to your party. The great thing about a VJ package is that even if your hanging back from the dance floor your still having fun being engaged by the videos. Nothing like seeing Abba sing dancing queen, Steve Perry belt out a Journey song, or watching the craziness of a LFMAO video.

Absolutely, but you are invited to visit our home office where you will meet face to handle utilizing the Orange County Bar Mitzvah DJ who will perform at your event, and we’re confident that at the conclusion of that meeting you can expect to want Tasty Sounds to manage your event, just as a lot of other Southern California Bar/Bat Mitzvah DJ Clients just before have decided to accomplish.
Here is some footage of another B’nai Mitzvah we did for the Solkow family last June at the Newport Dunes Resort in Newport Beach. Two B’nai Mitzvahs in 1 year, that is sort of bizarre! Jenna & Nicole where two awesome girls/Sisters who really just wanted to dance and have a good time, and mom & dad (Anne & Stuart) wanted to make that happen for them. On this event we brought our Video Dance Party Package, which makes it fun for everyone, even the non-dancers where entertained by the selections of old and new videos. The staff of the Dunes Resort where very helpful and easy to work with and I have to say this is a very cool place to have any sort of event in the Orange County area.http://www.newportdunesspecialevents.com/Family.html
So the awesome married team ofRon Levy Photography (949-280-6001) just sent us some brilliant pictures from the B’nai Mitzvah we handled last March at the Hyatt Regency in Newport. Tasty Sounds handled the entertainment and the lighting production. It was a great team effort on everyone’s part including Michelle Capanelli from the Hyatt, Ron & Gabrielle Levy,Shawna Yamamoto of Yamamoto Design and Melinda Gilchrist of Gilchrist Video. Both families couldn’t have been any cooler to work for, and the girls and all their friends where really delightful. This was our second event for Nancy & Paul Schneider and it was great seeing Nick get to kick back without any pressures on him. The Tasty Team was myself (DJ Alvis), DJ Brian, and Dancers Billy & Jen who got the crowd rocking, and our Creative Lighting Tech George brought it all home.
We just got ahold of the photos from Jacob’s Bar Mitzvah, courtesy of Sharon Pulcino ofCreative Visions Photography– 714-838-9996 and they capture all the energy and excitement of that special evening. The event went real smooth thanks to the efforts of Cindy Lee at theUCI Club in Irvine, and of course the family Barry, Jantana, Jacob and their fireball little brother were equally easy to work for. We did play a few games that everyone knows like “LIMBO” and “Scavenger Hunt/Musical Chairs” but we also included a game you may ot see very often at other Mitzvah’s called “DUEL” which is a tricky version of the 2 man tug-o-war, great for Girls, Boys, & Men!
We have handled 3 out 4 Flietman Boy’s Bar Mitzvah’s, and Jack was the Final one this year atPrego Restaurantin Irvine (now closed 🙁 ). On a side note: this was a really great place to have a party in Orange County, it had a great vibe and what a great change from the no window ballrooms we are always in. So Jacks theme was Hockey, (Our first hockey party since our Stanley Cup Party for the Anaheim Ducks), and I decided to come up with a new game to work with his theme and Presto we created the “Hockey Challenge”, similar to our Basketball Free Throw, and our Quarterback Challenge, but I think much trickier and harder, (watch the video to see it). This was also the first time we added DJ Dayna to the mixx and she added that cool girl DJ vibe we are always looking for. And finally the hockey puck inspired cupcakes were some of the best cupcakes around, truly TASTY; I will post that info when i get it. So Hats or Hockey helmets off to the Flietman’s, especially Margie who has been one of our biggest supporters in the OC, and we hope to see them at many more upcoming events.
