We just got ahold of the photos from Jacob’s Bar Mitzvah, courtesy of Sharon Pulcino ofCreative Visions Photography– 714-838-9996 and they capture all the energy and excitement of that special evening. The event went real smooth thanks to the efforts of Cindy Lee at theUCI Club in Irvine, and of course the family Barry, Jantana, Jacob and their fireball little brother were equally easy to work for. We did play a few games that everyone knows like “LIMBO” and “Scavenger Hunt/Musical Chairs” but we also included a game you may ot see very often at other Mitzvah’s called “DUEL” which is a tricky version of the 2 man tug-o-war, great for Girls, Boys, & Men!
We have handled 3 out 4 Flietman Boy’s Bar Mitzvah’s, and Jack was the Final one this year atPrego Restaurantin Irvine (now closed 🙁 ). On a side note: this was a really great place to have a party in Orange County, it had a great vibe and what a great change from the no window ballrooms we are always in. So Jacks theme was Hockey, (Our first hockey party since our Stanley Cup Party for the Anaheim Ducks), and I decided to come up with a new game to work with his theme and Presto we created the “Hockey Challenge”, similar to our Basketball Free Throw, and our Quarterback Challenge, but I think much trickier and harder, (watch the video to see it). This was also the first time we added DJ Dayna to the mixx and she added that cool girl DJ vibe we are always looking for. And finally the hockey puck inspired cupcakes were some of the best cupcakes around, truly TASTY; I will post that info when i get it. So Hats or Hockey helmets off to the Flietman’s, especially Margie who has been one of our biggest supporters in the OC, and we hope to see them at many more upcoming events.
We are super lucky to have such great families that book us for all their events, and Lisa & Rob Rutkowski are no exception. We (DJ Alvis & DJ Brian) handled Benjamin’s Bar Mitzvah a few years ago and now it was time for the infectious energy bomb Annie! They had Ben’s party at Dave & Busters the first time and because it was such a good vibe they decided why mess with a good thing (same thing about us) and they had it there again. Shannon McNally, is the operation manager atDave & Busters, and if your looking for a unique place without a lot of hassles you should give her a call. A super cool person, (and I run into few special ones as an LA DJ).
Annie is part of the Theater/Dance crowd; yes crazy and an Orange County DJ’s Dream crowd to perform for. When you watch the video link below, you will see that her and her friends don’t need much encouragement, and when it was time for the Harlem Shake…well just watch. Lastly many thanks to Lisa’s (Mom) over the top, but super sweet Tasty Sounds creative balloon shout out with her friend, it was by far the best of the year. Mazel Tov to the whole Rutkowski family!
Yet another successful event at theUCI Club in Irvine, with the amazing Cindy Lee heading the venue. This time it was for Ben Dynes Kung Fu Mitzvah on August 6, 2011. This was a great party. Brian took the front man position, while I spun on the decks. When we started out with our follow-along dance, there was not one person sitting. Everybody was participating and having a fun time. That’s how we like to start all of our parties. The Minieri family were great to work for, along with all their family and friends who attended. We even came up with a mod on our “DUEL“ game Karate Kid style. Enjoy our video with the Tasty tune “Let’s Dance & Stuff“ (David Bowie & Deadmau5).
So Evette Knight –www.evetteknight.combooked us on this job at the always beautiful Westlake Village Inn this year for Jason & Stacy just after seeing us at another event (A Bat Mitzvah). As you can see by some of the photo’s from Next Exit Photography http://www.nextexitblog.com, it turned out amazing. I handled all the DJ duties but Tasty Sounds was also contracted to handle all the decorative lighting, which included about 20 LED up lights around the room, that changed colors to go with the vibe of the evening. We also highlighted the cake and down lit the dance floor with a simple spring tree pattern, to give some depth and energy to the pictures and the dance floor, (not easy in this multi-level room). And lastly we created a custom lighted Logo (gobo) to match the runner and the cake topper. This was a fun wedding mainly due to working with Evette, if you need a wedding coordinator that will work with you, create unique ideas and take care of you, Evette and her staff are the perfect choice.
Yes I know the Harlem Shake craze is weird, (and a huge waste of time if your looking at them on youtube) and many of you don’t understand it, but anytime I can get all crazy then I’m all the way in. The first one is for my Daughter Kelly’s elementary schoolCalahan, they had a jog-o-thon that I volunteer for and I talked them into doing it. The second video is for a great family (Hamontree) in Newport who had a 8 year old birthday party. I’m not sure the kids understood what I wanted them to do, but they seem crazy and Jen my dancer and I had fun. The next one isSt. Eupharasia Catholic Schoolin Granada Hills, and I was handling another Jog-o-thon. What was great about this one is the principal Mrs. Blair helped start things off, fun school, fun parents, and great teachers. Lastly we handled Maia Yosef’s Bat Mitzvah and of course we had to do the Harlem Shake. It’s a little like where’s Waldo but instead it’s wheres DJ Alvis?
Adam and Reagan Skinner Wedding at Calamigos Ranch
Adam and Reagan Skinner had a fantastic wedding at theCalamigos Ranchand I handled the music. As you can tell from the footage Reagan our beautiful bride had a damn good time. The song at the end of the video and at the end of the night was Sandstorm, a very high energy song which everyone kept up with even after 6 hours, and this Los Angeles wedding DJ was amazed. Adam let Reagan handle most of the details and as you can tell from the footage she really transformed the Waterfall room into a romantic setting. This room has been recently remodeled (thank god) and looks completely different now. One of the best ways to change an unappealing room is to use Pipe & Drape, which gives your room a blank canvas which you can now apply color in the forms of drapes, linens and of course lighting.
