I started this company in 1990, a few years after graduating from Utah State University. As an Air Force kid, I was born in Texas, but lived all over the U.S. and Europe. I came to Los Angeles to pursue and acting career, and was becoming annoyed waiting tables and paid the bills by working in the L.A. Club scene earning my DJ wings before dreaming up Tasty Sounds. My wife Diane and our daughter Kelly Marie are my biggest joys, and biggest inspiration. I haven’t missed a ski season in 35 years, so yeah I can ski. I also love my football, go Fins, and I have been known to cheer for the Chargers. So how do I burn off the stress from Weddings, Mitzvah’s, Schools and Corporate events, well by fighting of course? I currently hold a 7th degree black belt in Kung Fu San Soo; which is my main hobby along with being a major comic geek.
Brian is a Ventura raised native Californian and a graduate of Buena High School, where he could have been seen on the school stage or at local theatre and Los Angeles based productions. He polished up his MC & acting Skills at many Improv schools and showcases. Brian is a killer skater and was a National Roller Speed Skater competitor, which is how he got his start, DJ’ing at the Local Skating Rink, and where he perfected his mixing skills and caught the DJ bug. Besides burning up the turntables (hence the Phenixx name) and running my office, he is now trying his hand at audio production.
Dru is another of our talented, quick thinking, and charming performers who has a great way of connecting with all of our brides & grooms. Because he is Bilingual, (Spanish not Icelandic) it makes him a double threat and another factor in making him a much sought after entertainer. In college Dru played college level baseball, and went on to a few club teams in Europe and eventually was drafted by the Giants, until injuries sidelined him permanently. Dru’s biggest hobby is leftist politics; but I still send him out on gigs anyway, that’s how good he is.
Yep, brother of Brian, and one of our talented DJ’s who handles a variety of events. Another Ventura Raised Californian and graduate of Buena High School, he’s currently a student at The Art Institute. You may have seen him recently in the L.A. revival of HAIR, (actually a little too much of him if you know the musical). Being a student doesn’t lend much time for hobbies right now but he can still tear it up on his Jazz Trumpet, and keeps his singing edge sharp at local Karaoke Venues.
Jennifer our princess of dance is another native Californian from Pasadena, and a graduate of Westridge School for girls. She studied dance for 17 years with the Pasadena civic ballet company, and continued her education at Pasadena City College & UCLA. Some of you may recognize Jen from her guest staring roles on Desperate Housewives, That 70’s Show, Malcolm in the Middle and her upcoming lead role in the movie Transylmania. Jen loves her Yoga and catching theatre productions but her biggest hobby is being a foodie, but she doesn’t want to cook it, just eat it.
Victoria grew up in Surrey, England, (yes she has a killer accent) and when she was 18, she moved to Spain to work as a nanny overseeing six children. At 19, Victoria moved to Los Angeles where she earned a scholarship to the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute. She studied acting there for several years and also studied Broadcasting and Journalism at Santa Monica College. As a model Victoria has been featured in many fashion magazines and catalogues in Europe, the US and Mexico City, and has represented many international companies. To unwind this dynamo likes to throw dinner parties and head out to Karaoke bars with her chaps.
Dean is our Aussie; and a really down to earth, kick backed, easy to get along with fellow. Dean has been with me the longest and has a really deep understanding of really tasty tunes. Dean’s biggest talent is singing, and can sing the hell out of George Michael, Prince, Neil Diamond and Bono, it’s really amazing.
